Today, Peace Country Cyber Inc. is officially open for business.
We are northern Alberta's local cybersecurity partner — a managed cybersecurity and IT services provider serving Mackenzie County and the broader Peace River region. We help small and mid-size businesses out here stay safe online and stay insurable, without the city-shop pricing or 30-day ticket queues that have been the norm in this part of the province for years.
If you're reading this and you're a business owner in the Peace Country region, this announcement is for you. If you know someone who is, please share it — that is the single most useful thing you can do for us today.
What we do
We have published the service catalog at peacecountrycyber.ca. The short version:
Three managed tiers:
- Cyber Essentials — $95/seat/month. Managed cybersecurity only. Best for businesses with internal IT or a separate IT provider who want a dedicated security partner.
- Cyber Essentials + Managed IT — $175/seat/month. Everything in Tier 1 plus full IT helpdesk and operations. The natural fit for most small businesses.
- Cyber Premium — $275/seat/month. Enterprise-grade for businesses with the most at stake — regulated industries, larger SMBs, or anyone with vCISO needs.
One-time engagements:
- Cyber Insurance Readiness Assessment — $2,500 fixed-fee, ~2 weeks. Our anchor offering. A written gap analysis mapped to your carrier's actual questionnaire, with a prioritized remediation roadmap. If you convert to a managed retainer within 90 days, the assessment fee credits against your first three months.
- M365 Migration, Network Refresh, Incident Response Retainer — standalone projects available without a recurring retainer.
Free resources:
- The 5-minute Security Risk Report — self-administered cyber-insurance readiness check
- The Cyber-Insurance Compliance Checklist — 30 items, scored, downloadable
Who we're for
Our typical client is:
- A small or mid-size business (5–50 staff) in the Peace Country / Mackenzie County region
- Family-owned or owner-operated
- In agriculture, trucking, sawmill / forestry, oilpatch services, retail / co-op, professional services, or municipal / healthcare
- Currently relying on a part-time IT contractor, an Edmonton MSP that's losing the relationship, or no formal IT support
- Facing cyber-insurance pressure, recovering from a recent incident, or just tired of feeling underprotected
If that's you, we'd like to talk.
What we are not
- We're not a Calgary or Edmonton MSP with a "rural division." We live here.
- We're not chasing AI buzzwords or selling magic products. We deploy boring, proven security tools that work.
- We're not the cheapest option. Our pricing is positioned at the lower end of the Canadian SMB MSSP market, but we have minimums and we don't do the kind of work that requires us to compete on price.
- We're not for businesses with under 5 employees. The economics don't work for either party.
If we're not the right fit for your business, we'll tell you so on the discovery call, often along with a recommendation of someone who might be. Honest disqualification is part of how we want to be in this business.
How to start
The shortest path:
- Take the free Risk Report. Five minutes. Tells you where you stand and which tier likely fits.
- Email us at hello@peacecountrycyber.ca with your business name, approximate size, and one sentence about what's driving your interest.
- We'll reply within one business day with a proposed next step — typically a 30-minute discovery call by phone or Teams.
If you're ready for the deeper assessment, you can also skip directly to scoping the Cyber Insurance Readiness Assessment. Either path works.
A note on what comes next
We're a small business launching in a small community. The pace of growth from here is going to be deliberate — we're not chasing 100 clients in year one. We're looking for the right first ten clients, then the right next ten, and so on. If you sign on early, you'll get more attention than you would later. If you wait, the bar will be higher because we'll have a longer track record.
We expect to be turning down work within the first six months. If you've been thinking about a security upgrade for your business, this is the moment.
Thanks for reading. Thanks to everyone who has talked through the model with me over the past year. Thanks especially to the families and businesses in La Crete and the surrounding region who made this feel like the right place to come home and build something.
We're open.
— Dylan
